pared to all other ST intercepts. Seven ST were not different (P>.05) from the median intercept with an average geometric intercept (GI) of 0.20 (AZ, CA, KA, MN, OR, PA, WA). Three ST had a higher average GI of 1.00 (UT, ID, NE), two ST had a lower GI of 0.95 (IL, NY) and two ST had the lowest GI of 3.08. Average GI weighted for the observations in each group was -.19. The slope of ADF versus NDF appears constant throughout the US and variation in intercepts is more likely related to laboratory differences rather than to regional differences in alfalfa. In conclusion, it is possible to identify a geometric relationship between ADF and NDF that can be used to develop uniform alfalfa hay quality guidelines for the US: ADF = -.19 + .80*NDF; n=605, R2=.90, and RMSE=1.7.

cesss to a rye-grass pasture during 4 h/d. Brewery supplementation at the 75% level increased blood pH (P<0.01), reduced glucose (P<0.001), and tended to increase protein (P=0.10). Besides, there was a general correlation within glucose and protein, glucose and glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT), pH and GOT, protein and GOT. In conclusion, high levels of brewery supplementation increase bl...

متن کاملAssessment of Serum Amino Acid Chromatography in Children with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
Background: Given the important role of amino acids in regulating many metabolic pathways of the body and considering the scarcity of markers for the diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and its differentiation, we aimed to investigate the status of serum amino acids chromatography in children with IBD. Materials and Methods This case-control study was conducted among children with pri...

متن کاملA Review on Recent Findings on Amino Acids Requirements in Poult-Studies
Amino acids (AA) are important in poultry nutrition not only for protein deposition, but also for other metabolic functions; such as improving immune and gut functions. Although, some table values are available on amino acids requirement, AA requirements may vary due to changes in dietary composition and breeding selection. Thus amino acids requirements have remained an ongoing research topic. ...
متن کاملCheated Minerals in Animal Nutrition
Chelating is the chemical process by which a mineral (iron, cobalt, copper, zinc, and manganese) is combined with a mixture of amino acids and peptides. The resulting substances are known as chelates. Another descriptive term, proteinates, refers to the amino acid bond. These chelated minerals are thought to be more digestible than nonchelated forms. In other words, chelation makes the minerals...
